Missed Opportunities

Howell, MI - Not only did the Patriots watch their 14-point lead evaporate. They had just given up yet another touchdown to the Lions, and now the Patriots trailed 28-21 with less than one minute remaining.
Cam raced 80-yards to tie the game at 28-28

Cam W could not have picked a more important time to record his only touchdown of the day. Mr. Horne threw a short pass to Cam, and Cam did the rest of the work. He raced down field, scoring a 80 yard touchdown that tied the game at 28-28.

The Lions had one last chance to win the game, but the Patriots' Colin O intercepted the Lions 'Hail Mary' pass attempt, ending the game in a 28-28 tie.

Although the Patriots (1-1-1) fought back to tie the game, they left the field with a bitter taste in their mouths.

"I think there were some missed opportunities today for both teams," said all-time quarterback Mr. Horne. "The Patriots got out to an early 14 point lead, yet they couldn't close out the game. And the Lions had a chance to win at the end of the game."

Getting open was not a problem for the Patriots. However, catching the ball proved to be more of a challenge than usual for the Patriots. There were several times throughout the game when the usually sure-handed Patriot receivers dropped passes, any of which would have went for touchdowns.

Lorenzo led the Lions with 3 TDs
"I thought the Patriots could have scored another 3 or 4 touchdowns today," said Horne. "Sometimes the drops can be contagious ... You even see professional players struggle with catching the ball at times. I look for all the players to come back with great performances in their next game."

One player that didn't have a problem catching the ball was the Lions' Lorenzo. Lorenzo hauled in a game high four receptions for 3 touchdowns.

The Lions (0-1-2) stormed back from an early 14-0 deficit to take a 28-21 lead when Gavin hauled in his first touchdown catch of the season.
"Both teams are probably a little disappointed that they did not get the win, but at the same time both teams probably feel a little relieved that they got the tie," said Horne.

Colin scored 2 TDs for the Patriots
Colin led the Patriots with 3 receptions and two touchdowns, Cam added 3 receptions and 1 touchdown, and Cole recorded 2 receptions and 1 touchdown.

Gavin  hauled in two passes and 1 touchdown for the Lions, while Nathan added 3 receptions.
